Social Media Training. It's a process

Managing Information Overload Workshop Course

MANAGING INFORMATION OVERLOAD
One-day workshop

This one-day workshop course will give you the skills to take charge of your "information ecosystem."  You will focus on developing specific personal information management skills.  You'll be actively using Web 2.0 tools and technologies, email techniques and developing new information handling habits to cope with the "river of content" we are expected to consume and respond to in our modern day. You will tackle aggregating and streamlining content, and developing rules and filters for messages and real time "news streams."  The instructor will present insights for dealing with multitasking and provide you with techniques to maintain your productivity.

The course will also highlight key organizational technologies and operational changes to assist the organization in dealing more effectively with the modern flow of information.

Course Objectives

  • Articulate and map current personal information ecosystem
  • Differentiate and prioritize information requirements
  • Correlate personal information handling systems to actions required
  • Define a productive set of actions for information processing tasks
  • Create rules and filters for processing of incoming and outgoing information flows
  • Choose and use specific technologies and techniques for managing an information ecosystem
  • Create personal information policies

Workshop Frame of Mind:
The flood of information we want and feel expected to review, consume respond to and create may be of untold value, but it is also a threat to productivity, sanity, and motivation.  It can even make us feel depressed, inadequate and unfocused.  Employee inability to effectively manage information flows represent delays, high hidden costs and decreased creativity in the organization.
